There is said to be over 2.8 million sex workers in India. 35% of them enter the trade as children
Sonagachi, is the largest red-light district in Calcutta (Kolkata) with over 10,000 sex workers, many of them children. A place where every day these children of the poor, will have history repeat itself again and again.
Children trafficked and sold into prostitution, the caste system of India will keep them at the bottom of their society in what appears to be a neverending cycle of despair just to survive. Their little lives learn early on how very uncaring humanity can be.
In 2010 may the light shine bright on all the childen who are exploited and abused in every corner of the globe.
Today I remember the children of India.

What a beautiful and heartbreaking tribute to the little ones who come into the world with no choice as to the earliest paths they'll take; those who get lost in the sins of their mothers and fathers; caught in the traffic of the unconscious.
